ABOUT
Mantageri, a Chinese illustrator based between China and the United States, explores the visual translation of ethnography, folklore, and oral history. Her work often begins with field notes, interviews, handmade objects, and the quiet details of daily life, weaving research-based storytelling into children’s books, comics, editorial and advertising illustration.
Working with both traditional and digital media, she combines the tactile textures of pigment with the delicate details through digital processes.
Beyond drawing, she is also a printmaker, ceramic maker, chef, magical realism literature enthusiast, surfer and climber. She dreams of someday settling in Kona, hiking the eastern slope of Mount Everest, and climbing El Capitan in Yosemite.
